POSITIVE PERSPECTIVE NEEDED!!!

Have you ever been asked if your glass is half empty or half full? Chances are someone,  either a friend or a colleague has asked you that question at some point. Your answer is important because how you see life or how you perceive things ultimately shapes your reality, your circumstances and your life. Perception is a very powerful tool and it can help you achieve your goals, when you work with it and use perception to help you. Unfortunately most people don't use the power of perception or they use it to create the life that they don't want. You can work with the Power of Perception to ultimately create the life you want. A life filled with success, happiness and more.    You always get what you see. You see people in your surrounding in a negative or positive perspective and then focus on that side of their character always. Let’s take an example, if you see your colleagues as jealous or competitive then you're always going to bring out those qualities in them because that's what you see in them and that is what you believe is their character.  Let’s take another example of our country, we always look at the dark side of our country and we believe that this country have no future. This is perspective of most of us but if we focus on the other side of the picture, a drastic change will occur in our views. The vibrant colors of that side will leave an amazing feeling of pride and patriotism in us.     We are a nuclear power. We were home to some of the world’s finest names like Dr. Abdus Salam, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Parveen, Guljee and Iqbal Hussain and many more. Our writers and artists are globally recognized. Each year our students set new records in Cambridge. Our engineers and doctors have spread all over the world. We have one of the world’s strongest army. Our schools, colleges, universities and technological institutes have dramatically increased since partition.    We won the 1992 cricket World Cup. We made our place in hockey and squash. One could never have imagined that one day we would have a woman prime minister, a woman speaker and a woman general that show the importance of women in our society. The state-owned unilateral channels have flourished into independent media. Our television viewership is worldwide. Islamic banking has become a trend. The Edhi Centre has the world’s largest ambulance network. Arfa Karim, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Malala Yousafzai are some of the shining stars of our country which were recognized globally. 24200 of our children made the largest ever human made flag and set a world record.     There are always two sides of a picture. The problem with our society is that we focus on the negative side and complain about the half empty glass and ignore the half full glass, which would be impossible without the efforts of our own people. If we change our negative perception, we can bring a positive change in our society and then can grow as a super power. The power of perception can help us to conquer the world, let’s step forward together and bring the change.                                                                                           By:                                                                                           Omaima Khalid
